Tonnano
- Music
For the new Mocro Maffia spin-off series Tonnano, Videoland partnered with Amp.Amsterdam, part of Ambassadors, to craft a soundtrack that captures the story’s dual worlds. The series follows Tonnano as he leaves Amsterdam’s underworld behind and starts a new life in the Achterhoek countryside.
Brief
The challenge was to bring the city and the countryside together on one track. To find the right artist, the team looked for someone who could bring authenticity and credibility while resonating with fans of the original series. MocroManiac was the perfect fit: an Amsterdam rapper and original series cast member, familiar and credible to the audience.
Execution
Our team crafted a track that blends traditional country instruments, such as banjo and mandolin, with a strong hip-hop beat.
“Working with the Videoland team is always a pleasure; they’re very hands-on with the music and the edit. We made the full track, and they chose the parts used in the trailer, complementing it with the cinematic trailer score.” - Maik Cox, Composer
MocroManiac wrote the lyrics and delivered the vocals, even singing a country-inspired chorus. This was completely new territory for him, a fun challenge that added a surprising twist to the track.
Result
The final track feels both unexpected and authentic to the story and gives the series a distinctive sonic identity. Parts of the song featured in the trailer, and the full track was released as ‘Los van Beton’ by MocroManiac.
