Brief

For Videoland's new series about Marco van Basten, Ambassadors was brought in to create a trailer version of Sarà perché ti amo, the iconic AC Milan anthem. The original song carries a nostalgic and positive feel, while Van Basten’s story takes a more emotional turn as injuries begin to shape his career. The challenge was to bridge these two different emotional worlds through music. 

Execution

Instead of scoring an existing edit, the music came first. Built with space for dialogue and pacing in mind, the track gave the editors a foundation to build the trailer around.

The original vocal remained the recognisable thread, while the arrangement was completely reworked. The trailer opens with the original, instantly familiar, before moving into piano as the story unfolds. From there, the music gradually builds from intimate and emotional to a dramatic climax, combining orchestral and electronic elements, with analogue synths and live-recorded brass adding depth and texture.

Result

The result is a familiar song in a completely new form. The original vocal keeps Sarà perché ti amo instantly recognisable, while the new arrangement gives it the emotional weight the story calls for.
